As the stock plastic wear-ring becomes worn, or is damaged from debris, the gap between it and the impeller grows, creating cavitation and performance loss ((mostly felt upon take-off). This is an important area to service and replace when necessary. But with a durable stainless-steel wear-ring, you almost never have to change it! It's not indestructible, but pretty darn close!
This 159mm wear-ring is a thick, durable piece of quality sleeve that will endure many hours of use.
